Novarc brings Physical AI welding tools to FABTECH, including adaptive welding that adjusts for fit-up on the fly

Burnaby, BC–based Novarc Technologies said on October 13 it will showcase its NovAI Physical AI welding suite and SWR-TIGMIG dual-process pipe welder at FABTECH in Las Vegas (October 21–23, booth S40093). NovAI Autonomy uses machine vision to adjust robot path and weld parameters in real time for gaps, misalignments and tacks, and Novarc will demo it on Yaskawa and ABB robots; it also pairs with Miller's Copilot Builder with Blue iQ. The company says NovAI is built on more than one million hours of arc-on welding data and can retrofit cells shops already own.

What it means for manufacturers and fabricators

Part variation and fit-up are what usually break robotic welding in a high-mix fab shop. Adaptive vision that tweaks starts and parameters without a programmer rewrite is worth a live look at FABTECH, especially if you already run Yaskawa, ABB or Miller cells.
