Hyundai and Kia show Polaris, a factory AI agent that answers spoken questions about defects with causes and fixes
At a media day for E-FOREST Tech Day 2026, Hyundai and Kia demonstrated Polaris, an AI agent built for manufacturing. Asked out loud for the top three body defects from July and the fix for the worst one, it sorted the defects from their new Ulsan EV plant's live data within seconds and recommended tighter mould-contamination control and regular inspections. They also showed AI that plans welding robot paths for the 1,700-plus weld points on a car body, aiming for 1 mm accuracy by June 2027.
What it means for manufacturers and fabricators
The same idea works at shop scale: an agent connected to your job records, NCRs and inspection reports can answer "what keeps going wrong on our beam line this month, and why?" in seconds, instead of someone digging through spreadsheets.
