Meta releases Muse Spark Open, an open-weight model for coding and agent work that can run on two Mac Studios
Meta released the weights for Muse Spark Open on October 15 and calls it the most capable US open-weight model to date. It has 816 billion total parameters (42 billion active at a time) and a 1-million-token context window, and it's built for coding and long, multi-step agent work. Meta says it's the first model in its class to run on a desktop, using two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios with up to 512 GB of memory each, and it's also available through hosted APIs such as Groq, Fireworks AI and Together AI. The weights come under Meta's Muse Model License, which Meta describes as having limited commercial terms.
What it means for manufacturers and fabricators
A model this capable running on hardware that fits in your office means drawings, quotes and customer data never have to leave the building. You don't need to buy Mac Studios tomorrow, but the gap between cloud-only AI and AI you run in-house is closing fast; just read the license before building anything commercial on it.
